Tuplins Creek has a sound history of community watershed involvement. For several years, there was a local watershed group, spearheaded by Lee Sutherland. Much of the creek was cleaned of debris and many trees were planted during this period.

The big story on Tuplins Creek in 2009 was the blowout of Bakers Pond, presently owned by Greg and Becky Donald. The permitting process would not allow for the pond to be reconstructed, and there is currently a fish passage through the property that previously did not exist. In 2009, KNWSA organized the construction of a silt trap in the short stream branch southwest of the pond. This silt trap will hopefully reduce the silt impact on the former pond and other locations downstream. KNWSA also helped to stabilize the new stream bank (the former pond bottom) by seeding out appropriate areas and planting trees. Further enhancement of the new stream bank will be coordinated with the property owners.

For 2010, in co-operation with local landowners, KNWSA hopes to work out a plan to clean Tuplins Creek, to plant trees further enhance the riparian zone, and to work toward solutions to keep the local waters as clean as possible in the years to come.
These are pictures from the area.... as pictures are collected for the watershed, we will update the photo gallery.
